Today starts the countdown to the 2025 season. Warhawk fans are now just 100 days from the opener against St. Francis on Thursday, August 28 in Malone Stadium.
While a handful of positions may already be settled, for the most part fans know nothing more about Head Coach Bryant Vincent’s second edition of Warhawk football, but here’s some details of what fall camp could look like.
Offense
Returning quarterback Aiden Armenta is expected to enter fall camp as the starter, while he’ll see the bulk of the offensive line also back to protect him. In 2024, the Warhawks were a Sun Belt Conference worst for passing with just over 1617 yards, with emphasis being on the run game. The ground attack was not much better though, ending the year with 2036 yards - of which leading rusher Ahmad Hardy accounted for 1351.
Speaking of Hardy, just who exactly will replace him remains to be seen. Transfers Zach Palmer-Smith (Richmond), Jaydon Wright (Minnesota), Braylon McReynolds (South Alabama) and Tyrell Reed (Arkansas) look to be solid candidates to replace Hardy, however the off-season comments by 4-star running back D’Shaun Ford wanting to be the next Ahmad Hardy can’t be ignored.
Receiving options to open the passing game include JP Coulter (MGCC), Nic Trujillo (New Mexico), and returner Jake Godfrey.
Defense
Kevontay Wells and Amrion Ware headline the returners on the defensive line. Billy Pullin, Seidrion Langton, and Tristan Shorter all round out returners of note in the linebacker unit.
Defense is key, with the defensive efforts being the catalyst for the quick 5-1 start a season ago. In the first half of the season, ULM defense consistently rated in the top five in rushing and pass defense before finishing the season ranked 11th in the conference.
